Stethoscopes HQ

I am a respiratory therapy student & need buy a stethoscope. What kind should I buy?

Our instuctor told us not to get one that is more than $40, but I would like to know what brand names are good so I do not get a bad one. Thanks!

1. Litman is one of the best, but it is pricey. Our prof (patient assesment) told us to get a Litman abt $50.
2. Brand names have nothing to do with it. You want something well-constructed and with a thick tube. In RT, you don't even need a bell. Just don't get one of those flimsy things with the skinny tube, and you'll be fine. You could even get a generic Sprague-Rappaport type for about $20 and put the normal diaphragm on one side and a smaller diphragm on the other for kids.
