How many of you use electronic stethoscopes? Which do you prefer? Do you find the benefits outweigh any negatives? Favorite brand? Thanks! Ideally answers from med students would be nice! :)
how to make a wireless electronic stethoscope? i am facing problem in designing the circuit and getting an appropriate microphone and RF transmitter and receiver chips in delhi
Electronic stethoscope vs normal stethoscope.? Almost EMT certified and am looking for suggestions on the best stethoscope. There is a difference between a health care provider using a stethoscope in a hospital and a EMT trying to hear on an ambulance....simply I need the best. I have used many regular stethoscopes, but am in the market for a new one and am not sure what direction to lean so I thought I would get some input from some health care professionals that put them to use in the real world (experience). In your opinion whats the best stethoscope a manual or electric if cost/price does not matter? What would you suggest for a person in my field/position? Thanks in advance, I simply want the best.
need an electronic circuit discription for follwing circuit??? please help me? http://www.electronics-lab.com/projects/science/019/Electronic_Stethoscope_2.jpg
where can i buy wall contact microphone components? a wall contact microphone can listen throught walls it works like a stethoscope, i want to attempt to make an electronic stethoscope for my college engineering project as this can be a very unique project.
Your opinions regarding Litthmann Stethoscope? I have been using the same Littmann Cardiology III since medical school and I love the clarity I get on auscultation with it. But last night in the ER, a rather bad night I may add, my old Betsy went to that great medical refuse bin in the sky. Now that I’m back on the prowl for a new stethoscope, what do you recommend? I have seen some of the paramedic personnel carry electronic stethoscopes by Littmaan. How do those work out in the field or in the office setting? Are they able to allow you to detect murmurs? Pros & cons welcome and as always, my appreciation with thanks. I'm using the "LOANER" right now. You know the 1lb double rubber tubes stethoscope and hard plastic ear pieces that lacerate your earlobes. Yep, the one, no internist would be caught dead with. Bethany! You have two!!! Can I borrow one? LOL! Yes, I got to test an Electronic one on Sunday night. NEATO!, but I was very self-conscious about it, afraid of breaking it or even when it ding agains the bed rails. So I'm going to take Momo's advice and get a Cardio III. Hopefuly "Old Betsy II" will last me another 4 years. Thank you all for the consultation!
HELP!!! Best top-quality stethoscope for physician? My husband is debating about which stethoscope he should get- he's a physician getting ready to take his PACES in two weeks (in which he will be specifically listening for even the most minute murmur), and needs the best quality stethoscope he can get. Of course, he already has a stethoscope (a basic Sprague model), which is OK, but not great. He doesn't hear any better out of my Littman II SE, and isn't impressed with the Littman Master Cardiology (which is what the majority of his colleagues use). He likes the Littman 3000, mainly because he can increase the volume and focus on the sound, but the problem is that the proctors of the exam make using electronic stethoscopes a bit difficult. Any suggestions? Cost is not really an option (well, unless it exceeds around $500), as we want the best quality. Any advice would be welcome. Apparently, he needs to be able to hear grade II diastolic murmurs, like subtle MS and AR, and to differentiate MR, VSD, HOCM and TR.
From personal experience, if money was no object, which littmann stethoscope would you recommend? the Littmann classic, lightweight, the master classic, cardiology, the Master Cardiology, the expensive electronic or the soft touch Stethoscope?
Where can I get an amplified stethoscope to listen to blood pressure's better? I'm looking for an amplfied stethoscope so I can hear the BP's better, now I saw on a website a couple months ago, an amplified one that wasn't electronic and it was only about $50 and that's something I would like to have! But I can't seem to find that website anymore, any ideas?
One of the most sensitive stethoscopes? I am taking some classes to become a nursing assistant. A few months ago DODMERB gave me a hearing test and said I have poor hearing. I have never noticed and it has never affected me, until now. I cannot hear a heart beat through a normal stethoscope. My instructor told me I should get an amplified stethoscope but I cannot afford to put out that much money at the moment (although I will use it for the rest of its life considering I am going to college to become a DR.) Does anyone have a suggestion as to what is te most sensitive type and brand of stethoscope before you start getting into the electronic ones? I am so overwhelmed by the many different types and I am not sure what would be best for me. I.e.: Respiratory, cardiology, etc. Thank you so much for your time in reading my lenghty question! lol
NURSES What's the best litman stethoscope that you use? I have had a litman lightweight for years, but in the hospital the background noise is killing me when im doing blood pressure ( sometimes need to retest 2 times because its so loud) so i was thinking of getting the 3000 model...what kind do you use? http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/Littmann/stethoscope/electronic-auscultation/model-3000/
Which one of these statements about anesthetic drugs and equipment is true? _____ a. All anesthetic drugs used today are free of negative side effects, such as arrhythmia. _____ b. The standard stethoscope is no longer in common use among veterinarians. _____ c. ECGs are used to test for irregular brain waves. _____ d. The veterinarian's observation, touch, and hearing are more important than the data provided by electronic monitoring equipment.
Help me lose weight! Very high BMP? I know the heart rate thing has nothing to do with how much weight you have. I'm moderate sized, 15 and my BMP is 110! It's accurate because we were doing an experiment in bio with an electronic stethoscope. I don't have time to exercise and can only do exercises at home. Are there any home exercises that allows you to strip off the fats quickly? Please don't tell me about ana and all that. I know my limits.
Are electronic stehoscopes "worth it"? I am shopping for a really excellent quality stethoscope as a present for a BSN-RN person's graduation present, and I notice that several of the more expensive ones are electronically amplified. Is this a really useful feature? I know nothing about this, but I really want to buy a top-notch stethoscope. But I want to make sure that this isn't some silly gimmick. If it matters, he will be working Pediatric Oncology.
Ford Fiesta - Wheel bearing noise? My car has now been into my local independant garage 5 times for a noise which sounds like a faulty wheel bearing (have had faulty bearing on old car) in the passenger footwell. It has so far had 4 new bearings and a new hub on the passenger side and 1 new bearing on the drivers side (hub has been checked and is ok). They checked all of the wheels with an electronic stethoscope and they all seem to be ok. However - the noise is STILL there! I really dont know how many more chances to give this garage, i think they have had enough tries and they really cant seem to figure it out. At least they are not charging me until they work out what is causing it but its really inconvenient to have to keep taking it in. I'm seriously thinking of just taking it to an expensive main dealer to have it sorted. Can anyone give me any advice on any other faults that could cause a whirring noise in the passenger footwell? The whirring speeds up and slows down with the speed of the car.
Best stethoscope for hard-of-hearing nurse? Best stethoscope for hard-of-hearing nurse? My girlfriend is about to graduate with her nursing degree and has a cheap Prestige Clinical II Stethoscope. She has sensitive ears and has trouble hearing things at times and I think it would be nice to find a really good stethoscope for her. Can you recommend a stethoscope? I hear the electronic ones are good for hard-of-hearing nurses but are expensive and wear out fast. I want one that will make it easier to hear the stuff she needs to hear for her job though.
Anyone used both a mechanics and medical stethoscope? I'm trying to find an underground water pipe leak, it is giving no signs of water or anything else, but I know its there. After researching I've found that the high pressure water leask actually make a bit of noise. I know they have very expensive listening equipment out there, but I don't have the money to buy the expensive stuff, it or hire someone. I want to at least give it a shot to listen through the ground with a stethoscope first. The problem is, I've searched for hours for a direct comparison between mechanics stethoscopes and medical stethoscopes, and cannot find any sort of comparison. I do have a cheap mechanics stethoscope. I figured maybe driving a metal stake into the ground at various places, and listening through it with the mechanics stethoscope might be the best way. However I saw a expensive leak detecting stethoscope, that looked much more like a medical stethoscope. I was thinking maybe it would be worth getting a $20 medical one instead, that I could just place directly on top of the soil and it might work better. I just simply can't find any good technical details as far as what types of frequency ranges they pick up, etc. The other option is a $40 harbor freight "digital diagnostics stethoscope", its like a digitla version of a mechanics stethoscope, but I can't find any reviews or anything if that actually works any better. So if anyone has experience with both, (or even the electronic ones) could you tell me the plusses and minuses of each? Which would be better for listening to underground noises? Thanks for the long and detailed answer so far, although the leak is not under a slab foundation, its in the yard either on the main line, or perhaps in the irrigation system (which I never use). There isn't a main shutoff in the house, but I'm 99% sure its not in the house since I have traced all plumbing in the whole crawlspace with no traces of water, not to mention the crawlspace is completely dry. I also tested the toilets. The meter is running so there has got to be a leak in the yard somewhere but there is no trace at all. I was hoping a stethiscope could help find it, but I don't know wether to drive a stake in the ground and put a mechanics stethoscope to it, or buy a medical one, or even buy a $40 harbor freight digital mechanics stethoscope. Just don't know which would work best. Its leaking roughly 1 cubic foot (7.4 gallons), every 25 minutes.

that seventies Girl...? You had that Fisher Price Doctor 's Kit with a stethoscope that actually worked. You owned a bicycle with a banana seat and a basket it plastic flowers on it. You learned to skate with actual skates (not roller blades) that had metal wheels. You thought Gopher from Love Boat was cute (admit it!). Or Poncho from CHIPS.You had Moon boots for snowy days. YEAH! You owned a "Slip-n-Slide",on which you injured yourself on a sprinklerhead more than once. You had either a "bowl cut" or "pixie," not to mention the "Dorothy Hamill". People sometimes thought you were a boy. Your Holly Hobbie sleeping bag was your most prized possession. You wore a poncho, gauchos, and knickers. You begged Santa for the electronic game, Simon. You wanted to be a Solid Gold dancer or one of Charlies Angel! What else nice one guitarman ;) TMLEAFan you should post that list in Polls & surveys...If you dont mind I emailed your answer to the girl who sent me it to me orginally... ;)
Do you like my story, I'm twelve years old, the first story I like but the second I didn't like so much.? The Adventures of Mr Adams The Jewel of Death It was gorgeous summery day, Mr Adams was sitting on a seat of a train. He was absolutely fatigued after a hard day’s work in Egypt. England seemed more of a nice, calm, relaxing place. He took out a book from his suitcase and began reading until the serving table on wheels came. Mr Adams asked for a warm cup of tea and drank it quietly. Suddenly, the train stopped unexpectedly. There was a loud thud from up the train. The conductor came and said the train was getting bombed. Everyone began shouting and wailing so Mr Adams went to the top of the train. He saw a sparkle and went there. He saw a person lighting up a bomb. He grabbed him and wrestled him. The bomb fell and Mr Adams ducked down and cupped his ears. The bomb exploded. Mr Adams opened his eyes and saw it did no damage. He was alive but he felt something in his head, someone was pointing a gun to his head. ‘HAHA, think you could save all the train, piece of scum, take him,’ taunted the man. His men took Mr Adams away. Ages later, he was stuck in a pub-like house. My second story: Lonely, that is what I felt. The only thing I could see was the crimson-blooded dust I was standing on top of. The answer was clear; I was on Mars, home to the slimy, green-blooded Martians. I had seen Martians lots of times on T.V, like the show Justice League, which had the Martian Manhunter. I always wondered what it was like to be a superhero. Little did I know what fate had in store for him? I had been walking for far too long and was absolutely fatigued and thirsty. I sat down. Suddenly, I heard a thud and fell down. I only weigh 32 kg, I thought but it was too late to think about how much I weighed, I was in for a crash landing. Apparently, I was lying there unconscious. ‘Where am I’, I mumbled worryingly. I was cuffed in what looked like a futuristic chamber. ‘Arghhhh’, I yelled in agony. I tried to move around to get loose but it was no use, I was done for. I put my head down in shame. I could hear moaning as well, so I looked up and saw bodies. At least I wasn’t by myself. Clip Clop Clip Clop! Something was coming. Was it a Martian of some kind? I would just have to find out. Standing there in front of me was an ugly, mutated alien of some kind. Maybe he was from Dr Who, this was a silly assumption but I felt I couldn’t trust anyone. I regretted coming to Mars, being the youngest person to go to Mars sounded sick and all but it really wasn’t. ‘What’s your name?’ asked the alien. It had long body that looked like a squid. No way could that thing be a Martian. ‘Shut up!’ I yelled, furiously. I wasn’t worried about being dissected in a science lab. Gulp! I was. ‘Answer me, you filthy, puny human’ the squid asked more forcefully. ‘Chris Matthew’ I answered back, which I really shouldn’t have. The squid asked a lot more questions, I seriously was going to sleep but he was too frightened too. Suddenly, I felt weird, something unusual was happening. ‘The Gates of Griffin are opening!’ screamed the squid. ‘What?’ I asked confusingly, the squid was talking gibberish again. ‘The Gates of Griffin are opening which means the Chosen One is here, he is going to have the griffin’s power, FIND AND KILL HIM!’ the squid lectured. After the squid lectured on, I felt unusual; I started feeling powerful vibes inside me. ‘He must have the power’ said one of the squid’s henchmen, with a smirk on hid mutated face. ‘SO KILL HIM’ roared the squid furiously, his face becoming red with anger. The henchmen came after me with swords, axes and pole arms. Suddenly I let out something powerful; it must have been because the henchmen were on the floor. Then I became angry and let out something huge. Hospital I woke up with a headache; my head was absolutely scorching hot. I saw nurses and doctors walking up and down the place. It was obvious, I was in a hospital. ‘Hello, Master Matthews, feeling better’ asked a man with a white uniform and a stethoscope around his neck. ‘What happened, I want to go home?’ I answered back. ‘Sorry but the best remedy for you is rest’ the doctor advised, which was quite obvious because that is what doctors say all the time. I took the doctor’s advice and laid back on my electronic bed, I kept pressing the up and down buttons on the portable remote. The next thing I knew I was having a nightmare, I saw an image of the squid cursing me and then he died. I woke up with a shock and saw the digital clock next to me, it read 9:45. I drank a glass of water and had breakfast. After this, I picked up a form beside my bed, it said. Name: Chris Matthews Age: 12 Occupation: Student Parents: Mr and Mrs Matthews Problem: Found lying on Earth ‘That is not of your concern’ the doctor said, he nearly gave me a heart attack. ‘What happened to Mars’ I asked eagerly. ‘You destroyed it’ he answered like I was to blame.
